  • Question: How does the process of shipping my vehicle work?

    Once we receive the required paperwork, and your deposit is secured, the transport of your vehicle will be scheduled according to the dates on your shipping order. After a truck has been assigned, you will receive a call from the driver to schedule the pick up time. Because we are a carrier and broker, the number of drivers that we work with is significantly larger than other companies that are either only carriers or brokers. When the driver picks up your vehicle, he will do a detailed inspection and fill out the Bill of Lading. You will both sign this form and you will receive a copy. Upon delivery, the same Bill of Lading will be present so you can re-inspect the car. The driver will call you in advance to schedule an approximate time for delivery. The transporter will take every precaution to deliver you vehicle without incident; however, if damage should occur, you must report this damage upon delivery on the Bill of Lading. It is important that you and the driver sign this document. Claims cannot be processed by our insurance company if damage is not noted at time of delivery. For more information see Shipping Process.

  • Question: What is the difference between an open and an enclosed carrier?

    An Open Carrier is similar to those you see transporting cars to and from dealerships. These carriers range in size and capacity. Vehicles that are moved via an open carrier are exposed to inclement weather and road conditions. Enclosed Carriers also range in size and capacity. Since these carriers are covered, the vehicles in transit are not exposed to weather or road conditions. Enclosed carriers are recommended for custom and antique/classic cars. Enclosed transport costs more than open transport.

  • Question: Is my vehicle insured?

    Yes, Stateway Auto Transport Inc. is insured up to a $1,000,000.00 and any vehicle that is on our carrier is fully covered. All of our transporters are fully insured to meet all State and Federal requirements. The driver will thoroughly inspect the vehicle at pick up and re-inspect it upon delivery. However, it is your responsibility to make sure that any damage that may have occurred during transport is noted. In the unlikely event of vehicle damage, please document any impairment on the Bill of Lading and obtain the driver's signature. The insurance company will not process claims if damages are not documented at the time of delivery.

  • Question: How do I pay?

    In order to secure your shipment, we request that a customer fill out the Agreement Form and pay the minimal predetermined deposit which is subtracted from the total sum. Stateway Auto Transport Inc. accepts all major credit cards or certified checks. The remaining amount will be COD (cash, postal money order or cashiers check) upon delivery of your vehicle. All credit card transactions are secure and protected. You can be confident in knowing that Stateway Auto Transport Inc. is a verified Authorize.Net merchant.

  • Question: How long will it take to pick up and deliver my vehicle?

    The “industry standard” as so many of our competitors point out, is 7 to 14 days on a coast to coast shipment and 1 to 7 days on shorter trips. We here at Stateway make it our obligation to cut those standards in half! One of the reasons we are so respected in the field of auto shipping is because of our outstanding reputation for being the most reliable, cost-efficient and fastest transporters on the market.  The reason why most other companies cannot make the same claim is because they are just brokers and do not own their own trucks. Such companies know that it is not up to them to decide how long it will take to ship your car. Therefore they say that it will take up to 14 days in order to protect themselves from being responsible if one of their contracted drivers decides to go elsewhere with your vehicle still on the truck, as is very common in those cases since the driver works for himself and not the brokerage company. Stateway Auto Transport Inc. has always viewed this lewd and extremely inappropriate practice for what it is; deceitful business. Our primary responsibility is to pick up and deliver your vehicle according to the requested dates.

  • Question: Do I have to be present when my vehicle is picked up and delivered?

    No. You are not required to be there when the vehicle is picked up or delivered. As long as there is someone there to represent you and sign the paperwork, your car will get loaded and delivered. If it is not possible for anyone to be present, then we can pick up/deliver your vehicle to one of the many terminal stations located in most major cities. You, or someone representing you, must sign the paperwork upon pick up and delivery. This can take place via fax. It is strongly recommended that you or someone close to you is present at both locations. This will insure a smooth and problem free transport of the vehicle.

  • Question: Where will my vehicle be picked up and delivered?

    Stateway Auto Transport Inc. always provides our customers with Door-to-Door service which means that your vehicle will be picked up/delivered as close to your home as possible. Occasionally, due to the difficulty of maneuvering a large truck through inaccessible residential areas or because of local government regulations, the vehicle will be picked up from or delivered to the closet site available, such as a shopping mall parking lot or nearby street. In any event, we will ask ahead of time if there will be anything that might hinder the transport process due to the reasons previously mentioned. If so, then you and the driver will decide upon a mutually accepted location.

  • Question: What do I need to do to my vehicle before I ship it?

    In order to make the transportation process as worry-free as possible for both you and us, we put together this simple set of tips:

    It is important that no loose parts be present during the shipment and that, apart from the trunk, there are no extras inside the vehicle.

    If you chose to ship by open carrier than specialty items such as ground effects, custom spoilers or large fog lights should be removed so as not to be a potential threat while in transport.

    Please make sure that the battery or any other fluids do not leak.

    If the vehicle is inoperable, meaning that it cannot be driven on its own, please notify your representative before the driver arrives because we  have special equipment for such shipments.

    If you chose to ship with an enclosed carrier than all of the above are not a problem since the vehicle will be completely covered on all sides.

  • Question: Does it make a difference how much gas I leave in my vehicle?

    The suggested amount of gasoline  in a car upon pick-up is a ¼ tank. The reason why we ask our costumers to make sure of this is because any extra weight, multiplied by several vehicles per transporter, might cause the carrier to be deemed “overweight” at a weigh station. 

  • Question: What can I put in my trunk?

    Stateway Auto Transport Inc. does not authorize personal belongings in the vehicle nor are these items covered by carrier insurance. If you choose to put items in your vehicle it is completely at your own risk. You may put up to 100 lbs. of personal items in the trunk only. Firearms, hazardous materials, illegal substances or contraband may not be placed in the vehicle under any circumstances. Not only are auto transport companies not insured to carry household goods, it is also against the law for them to transport anything except your vehicle. The transport truck is subject to inspection by the DOT and other authorities at every state line and can be fined if found to be carrying household goods.

  • Question: How do I know where my vehicle is after it has been picked up?

    We offer a unique and truly revolutionary “Vehicle Tracking Service.” This means that you can log in at any time and find out exactly where your vehicle is! If you do not wish to download this program, then feel free to call us anytime and we will be glad to inform you of your vehicle's location. This way, you do not have to loose sleep worrying about the shipment of your personal property.
